This hot herbal tea can treat cold, flu and thereby cough. It soothes the throat and treats the soreness and itchiness. To make it, add 2 tbsp of fresh & grated ginger root in a cup of boiling water. Steep for 10 minutes and add some honey and lemon juice for enhancing the taste. Stir it well and drink the tea while it is warm. Consume the ginger tea 2 – 3 times daily till you get complete relief from cough and its symptoms.
Ginger can be used singly to cure cold and dry coughs. Cut fresh ginger into 5-6 thin slices. Sprinkle some salt over it to improve the taste if you want, and chew on it for some time. The strong taste and juice of chewed ginger will provide relief from respiratory problems and thereby cough.
Honey soothes the irritated throat, lemon boost up the immune system and ginger clears the bacteria or any blockage in respiratory system. Combination is hence very effective in treating cough and other respiratory problems. Chop fresh ginger root and lemon into thin slices. Put them in a jar. Pour some organic/raw honey on it till the slices are well soaked. Stir it well and keep it aside for a day.
